The school of media has been running game design programmes since 2006 and we are now the only school in Ireland that has game education from undergraduate to post graduate

The BA Game Design Team is made up of Industry & Academic Experts with backgrounds in Computing, Virtual Reality, Audio Engineering, Game Design, Music, Analytics and Storytelling. We also like playing the odd game or two!!!!
it's More than just teaching & learning
Sure, so you want to come here and learn, get your degree, get a job, settle down, have kids, retire and so on.... right? Eh, well, there is actually a bit more to it than that.
Education is a bit more then this. It's about people. It's about getting to know yourself, your strengths, your weakness and especially about the things you didn't know! This degree places huge empahsis on team building, communication and engagement. Our team is hugely passionate about games and OTHER THINGS. It's important you are passionate about OTHER THINGS. It doesn't matter what... as long as its not illegal! We cant be having that.
We have had years of experience in teaching progamming. We have been very innovative in course design especially with our flagship MSc in Creative Digital Media which was shortlisted for Best New Programme and Best IT programme of the year at the Grad Ireland awards in 2014.
We didn't win, in fact we lost out to a degree that aims to cure cancer (no messing). Ah well, you can't really compete with that. But the team that has developed this degree is pretty much the same with a few new exciting additions.
is this the right course for me?
Let's get straight down to it. This is a degree that focuses on making games. Not just playing games (although you will do a lot of that). It's NOT good enough to say you love games.
In fact you should be spending more of your spare time CREATING stuff or READING than playing games or watching movies.
We are looking for people who love creating things, anything will do. Art, Music, Stories, Food, Conversation even Noise AND who also love games.
You DON'T have to be a GAME DESIGNER...
That's what this programme is about after all !
You need to be curious and open minded and not afraid (being shy is fine and actually par for the course). But you need to prepare to be challenged and to work your butt off!
Don't come to class without one of these... In fact don't go anywhere without one
